Paulinho scores injury-time winner for Tottenham Hotspur

Paulinho's 93rd-minute goal gives Tottenham Hostpur a late 1-0 victory at Cardiff City in the Premier League.

Cardiff City endured a heartbreak as Brazilian midfielder Paulinho scored his first Tottenham Hotspur goal in the 93rd minute to give his side a 1-0 victory in the Welsh capital.

The first chance of the Premier League contest fell to the home side, but Hugo Lloris did fantastically well to thwart Frazier Campbell after Kyle Naughton underhit his back-pass.

Spurs had a host of chances to surge ahead, with Roberto Soldado, Christian Eriksen and Gylfi Sigurdsson all going close, but David Marshall was in inspired form to deny the trio.

Cardiff felt aggrieved that they were not ahead at half time, though, as Mark Clattenburg ruled out Ben Turner's headed goal in the 44th minute for a foul.

Sigurdsson did beat Marshall with a powerful drive in the 51st minute, but his shot cannoned back off the crossbar. With the Cardiff goalkeeper seemingly stranded, Soldado reacted quickest to poke the ball towards goal, but Marshall made a magnificent save to deny the Spaniard.

Chances continued to come at both ends, as Peter Whittingham came close to opening the scoring with a cross-cum-shot that fizzed past everyone in the penalty area before Peter Odemwingie curled his effort just wide.

Aron Gunnarsson missed a glorious chance in the 81st minute, and it proved costly as Paulinho sent a deft flick beyond Marshall in the third minute of added time to steal victory.
