Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino avoids title talk

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino avoids a question relating to his team's title chances this season, rather focusing on their need to continue improving.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino insisted that his team must continue "improving every day" when questioned on whether the capital club have ambitions of winning the Premier League title this season.

Tuesday's 3-0 win at Norwich City moved Spurs into third position in the table, above Arsenal and just five points off the leaders Leicester City.

Talk of a title challenge has gathered pace in recent weeks, but Pochettino was not keen to discuss his team's title credentials during his press conference ahead of Saturday's home match against Watford.

"The most important thing is to be focused on improving every day. This is the key for our position and the possibility to fight for something at the end of the season. It's true that we are in a very good position in the table and doing well in the cups but the key is to focus on improving," Pochettino told Sky Sports News.

"I didn't say that [we're thinking about winning the league]. I said we have to focus on improving. The players think they can improve and it's important to try to win every game in every competition. We are all agreed that we need to show more and not speak about it – we have to show we are in a position to fight for different objectives."

Spurs, who have the best defensive record in England's top flight this term, have only lost three Premier League games this season.
