Mauricio Pochettino: 'Tottenham Hotspur need more time with me or another'

Mauricio Pochettino insists that Tottenham Hotspur need more time to progress, whether it be with him in charge or "with another" manager at the helm.

Mauricio Pochettino has stressed that Tottenham Hotspur need time to progress, whether it be with him in charge or "with another" person at the helm.

Despite improving under the Argentine's stewardship, Spurs will finish trophiless once again this season after losing 2-1 to Manchester United in Saturday's FA Cup semi-final.

Tottenham have not won silverware since 2008, when they picked up the EFL Trophy, while the top-flight title has eluded them since 1961, but Pochettino has emphasised the need for consistent progress.

"Tottenham in the last four years are building a very good team, trying to create a winning mentality and it is not enough at the moment," Pochettino told BBC Sport.

"But Tottenham need to keep going in this direction and to create that winning mentality, it is not about a few years.

"Tottenham need more time with me or with another, but the most important thing is to keep going and keep developing that philosophy that is fantastic for this club.

"We are in the process - in the last four years there was the challenge to be competitive and then to reduce the distance with the top four."

Spurs have finished third and second in the past two Premier League campaigns under Pochettino and are fourth this season with four games to go.
