Mauricio Pochettino: 'Tottenham Hotspur have maintained high level'

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino feels that his side have maintained the same level of performance throughout the season.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino has suggested that his team's fitness levels are the main reason for their impressive recent form in the Premier League.

The North London outfit have eased to four wins from their last five outings, while the other saw them register a 1-1 draw away at Liverpool.

It has helped Spurs remain in the title race and while the desire of some of their opponents has been called into question given their respective positions in mid-table, Pochettino feels that the desire of his team has been the most telling factor.

The 44-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "I think we are as strong as at the start of the season, we are at the same level, maybe the difference is our opponents. The data is similar at the beginning to now because we can see the finish line.

"We haven't arrived yet, this is important, but our motivation is good and then you can run more. It is always in our mind and we are in a very good moment. We need to fight to achieve big things like winning the title."

Pochettino will close the gap on leaders Leicester City to five points should they defeat West Bromwich Albion on Monday night.
