Mauricio Pochettino: 'Red card changed nothing'

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino plays down the significance of Gaston Ramirez's red card in Sunday's 2-1 win over 10-man Hull.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that Gaston Ramirez's red card in Sunday's 2-1 win over Hull City did not swing the match in Spurs' favour.

The Tigers had led 1-0 by the 50-minute mark thanks to Jake Livermore's early opener, but Hull went down to 10 men when the Uruguayan was sent off for an altercation with Jan Vertonghen.

Goals from Harry Kane and a last-minute winner from Christian Eriksen saw Tottenham flip the game on its head, but Pochettino says that the result would have been the same regardless of Ramirez's dismissal.

"I think it did not have a big impact. In the second half our attacking game was better than Hull's. I'm sure in the end it would have been the same result," he told Sky Sports News.

"Hull played very well in the first half but we tried to change something at half-time and I'm happy because after we showed character and good mentality."

However, Kane, who netted the equaliser just after the hour mark, offered a different view and claimed that the comeback was aided by the red card.
