Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has stated that his players have to impress him all over again to feature in his first-team plans this season.

Spurs finished third in the last Premier League campaign, with the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen playing instrumental roles in Pochettino's side.

However, the former Saints coach has given all his charges a fresh start and has insisted that the senior players will not be given priority in the squad.

"For me, all the players that are here start from zero," he told reporters.

"It is so important to give opportunities, not because of last season or two seasons ago. [It] is a new chapter.

"When I signed the new contract here it is like I've arrived from the first day. No prejudging. You start from zero. You can deserve to play under our judgement. It is not to see what happened in the past."

Spurs captain Hugo Lloris has recently faced backlash for being arrested for drink-driving in the early hours of Friday morning, leaving question marks over his place in the team for their fixture against Manchester United on Monday evening.
