Tottenham Hotspur defender Federico Fazio has revealed his pride after returning to international football with Argentina last week.
The 27-year-old was in the squad for the friendlies against Croatia and Portugal, playing the full 90 minutes in the win over the former, and he admitted that he was delighted with the achievement after struggling to find his best form in the early stages of his Spurs career.
"I'm very happy to be back with the national team, three years after the last time," Fazio told Tottenham's official website.
"I'm proud to get a chance to represent my country. There are a lot of players in Argentina and from all the clubs in the top leagues around the world who are eligible for the national team, meaning we have competition for places in all the positions, so it made me proud and happy to play and I want to stay in the picture for the next matches."
Fazio, who moved to Spurs from Sevilla in the summer, has won just three caps for Argentina.
