Half-Time Report: Harry Kane Brace puts Tottenham Hotspur ahead

Harry Kane scores twice early on to give Tottenham Hotspur a 2-1 lead over Leicester City at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur have opened up a 2-1 lead over Leicester City at half time in their Premier League clash at White Hart Lane this afternoon after a couple of early goals from Harry Kane.

The hosts were ahead just over five minutes into the tie as Kasper Schmeichel tried to punch an Eric Dier corner clear, palming the ball into the path of Kane to leave the striker with a simple finish.

The soon-to-be England international added his second just a few minutes later when Kyle Walker crossed the ball in for Kane, who saw his strike deflect off Robert Huth before finishing in the back of the net.

David Nugent had a chance to cut the Tottenham advantage in half, but he was forced out wide, leaving him with a tight angle, and he could not squeeze it in.

Christian Eriksen tried to fire in a third for the hosts, but the woodwork kept Leicester in the game as the Dane's low strike hit the post before Andros Townsend fired the rebound over.

The Foxes did get back into the match shortly before the break though as Nugent charged down the right before crossing the ball in for Jamie Vardy to slot in.

Leonardo Ulloa could have made it 2-2 in first-half stoppage time, but the striker managed to nod the ball over from just eight yards out.
