Half-Time Report: Harry Kane own goal puts Swansea City ahead against Tottenham Hotspur

Swansea City lead Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at half time in Sunday's Premier League clash at the Liberty Stadium, with Harry Kane scoring an own goal.

Harry Kane's own goal has helped Swansea City to a 2-1 half-time lead at home against Tottenham Hotspur in Sunday's Premier League clash at the Liberty Stadium.

Both sides were quick out of the starting blocks, with Toby Alderweireld firing a header over the Swans bar after just seven minutes played, while at the other end Hugo Lloris had to be quick off his line to claim the ball ahead of the onrushing Bafetimbi Gomis.

Garry Monk's side edged themselves into the lead just after the quarter-hour mark in what was their first concrete attack, Gomis and Gylfi Sigurdsson combining to find Jefferson Montero, whose pinpoint cross was glanced in by Andre Ayew.

Spurs were soon level, however, as a tackle by Federico Fernandez just before the half-hour mark gave the visitors a free kick which Christian Eriksen curled over the wall and past Lukasz Fabianski.

Just four minutes later the hosts were back in front, with Harry Kane's lukewarm second season in the first team taking another unwelcome twist when he sliced a Jonjo Shelvey corner into his own net.

The 22-year-old nearly redeemed himself almost instantly when he powered through Swansea's final third and let rip with a strike down the middle, but Fabianski made a low reflex save to keep the ball out.

Eriksen then found himself with a sterling chance to equalise for his side in the 35th minute through another free kick 25 yards out, but lightning could not strike twice as the Swansea goalkeeper dived low to his left to keep the ball out.
