Scott Parker has described his Euro 2012 experience as fantastic after having to wait nine years to appear for England at a major tournament.

England midfielder Scott Parker has expressed his delight at competing in the first international tournament of his career.

The 31-year-old made his Three Lions debut against Denmark in 2003, but was not selected for a European championship or World Cup until being named in Roy Hodgson's 23-man party for Euro 2012.

"It has been a while," said the Tottenham Hotspur star. "At 31, it's my first major tournament.

"It's been fantastic. It always is when you are progressing and winning like we have."

Parker started all three of England's Group D games.
