Gerard Pique forced to depart Spain training

An abductor injury could see Barcelona centre-back Gerard Pique miss Spain's World Cup Group B clash with Australia on Monday.

Barcelona centre-back Gerard Pique is expected to miss Spain's World Cup Group B clash with Australia on Monday with an abductor injury.

Pique was dropped from the Spain XI against Chile last time out – a match that saw La Roja exit the World Cup in the group stages following a 2-0 defeat.

The defender was expected to return for the clash with Australia, but according to Marca, he failed to complete a training session on Saturday and is now doubtful to feature.

Spain boss Vicente del Bosque is expected to ring the changes for La Roja's final fixture of the tournament, with Juanfran, Raul Albiol, Xavi and Juan Mata all likely to start.
