Monaco midfielder Cesc Fabregas says that he still has ambitions to earn a recall to the Spain squad.

Monaco midfielder Cesc Fabregas has revealed that he has not given up hope of earning a recall to the Spain squad.

While the playmaker has contributed 15 goals from 110 outings for his country, the 32-year-old has been out of contention since 2016.

However, despite featuring in a struggling Monaco side in Ligue 1, Fabregas says that he is taking inspiration from Santi Cazorla and Jesus Navas, who are each playing for La Roja past the age of 30.

Fabregas told Marca: "Navas and Cazorla have done it. It's clear to me. I'm training, playing and I'm good enough. I haven't lost anything as a footballer after almost 800 matches.

"Physically I'm not as I was at 20 years old, but I feel very, very good. I'm not out of tune at all. A GPS controls us and I'm above average. You have to find an opportunity and to not let it escape you. I'm not giving up on a return."

Between 2008 and 2012, Fabregas helped Spain win the World Cup and two European Championships.
