Xabi Alonso insists that Spain will not change their approach to the semi-final against Portugal, despite the threat of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Spain and Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso has insisted that he along with his teammates will not change their tactics in order to stop Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo.

The reigning Euro 2012 champions come up against Paulo Bento's side with Alonso's club teammate Ronaldo arguably in fine form ahead of Wednesday's semi-final.

"We've got nothing planned, we'll play the same way regardless of the rival," said Alonso. "We can make small adjustments, play him close and keep him from finding space - but playing as a team is the best way to stop any player."

The winners of the mouth-watering encounter will take on either Germany or Italy in the final of the tournament.
