Southend United have signed striker Don Cowan on a one-month deal, subject to international clearance.

The 23-year-old Irishman spent the second half of last season on loan at Dundee following his move from Stevenage.

"Don provides us with something that I feel we're missing a bit and that is an abundance of pace," manager Phil Brown told the League Two club's official website. "It's great to have him on board and I'm sure he will do well for us."

Southend host Yeovil Town at Roots Hall on Tuesday in the first round of the Capital One Cup.
