Ronald Koeman: 'Steven Caulker will remain with us'

Steven Caulker will not return to parent club Queens Park Rangers in the January transfer window, according to Southampton boss Ronald Koeman.

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has revealed that he has no plans to cut Steven Caulker's loan spell at the club short next month.

The central defender joined the Saints on loan from Queens Park Rangers in the summer, but has struggled for regular action at St Mary's.

Caulker has only made two league appearances this term and has not featured for Koeman's side since the League Cup defeat to Liverpool earlier this month.

Despite Caulker's troubles, the Southampton boss does not intend to release the 24-year-old mid-season.

"My plan is for him to stay for the full season and then we will see," Koeman told reporters.

Southampton return to Premier League action away to Norwich City this weekend.
