Jack Cork yet to discuss new Southampton deal

In-form midfielder Jack Cork reveals that he is yet to begin contract negotiations with Southampton, with his current deal set to expire at the end of this season.

In-form midfielder Jack Cork has revealed that he is yet to discuss the possibility of a new contract with Southampton.

New Saints boss Ronald Koeman challenged the 25-year-old to earn an extension to his current deal, which expires at the end of the season, and Cork has replied with two goals in his last three games.

Cork would like to begin talks over his future, but has suggested that he is willing to wait and see if he remains in the team before committing himself either way, with a Bosman exit in the back of his mind.

"There has not been anything said, I've not said anything yet," he told reporters. "I would like to see how many games I can play, see if I can do well, and see what happens after that.

"Obviously [leaving at the end of your deal] does cross people's minds, but this is a club I have been at for four years. Everyone is settled here and obviously it is nice to feel like you are wanted somewhere, so it would be nice [to talk about a new deal] but we'll see what happens.

"I just want to keep playing. I wasn't sure how the season was going to go from the start and if I can just keep staying in and around the squad, then let's see what happens after that."

Crystal Palace were linked with an interest in Cork this summer before the departure of manager Tony Pulis.
