Preview: Southampton vs. Queens Park Rangers

Sports Mole previews the Premier League clash between in-form Southampton and Queens Park Rangers, who sit in the relegation zone.

Southampton will be looking for their fourth win in a row when they host Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League this weekend.

Ronald Koeman's side picked up their third straight win in the league when they beat 10-man Swansea City last week, and maintained their unbeaten run with a 2-1 victory over Arsenal in the League Cup earlier this week.

Sitting just three points behind Chelsea heading into the weekend, a win this weekend could potentially move the Saints to the top of the Premier League table.

There was some bad news for Southampton earlier this week, as James Ward-Prowse injured his foot during the Capital One Cup, ruling him out for up to three months.

Maya Yoshida remains a doubt for the weekend with an ankle knock, but Toby Alderweireld could be ready to return from a hamstring injury.

Meanwhile, QPR head into the weekend in the relegation zone, having won just once in their first five matches in the Premier League this season.

Harry Redknapp's side twice came from behind to share a 2-2 draw with Stoke City last Saturday, leaving them with four points so far this campaign.

Niko Kranjcar, who scored the late equaliser last time out, faces a late fitness test after picking up a knock in training, while Adel Taarabt and Sandro will also be last-minute decisions.

However, Jordan Mutch and Joey Barton are both set to miss out with hamstring injuries, while Alejandro Faurlin remains a long-term absentee with a knee ligament tear.

Southampton have won just one of their last five meetings with QPR.
