Nathaniel Clyne: 'I'm good enough for England'

Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne believes that he is well equipped to make his England debut ahead of games with Slovenia and Scotland.

Southampton right-back Nathaniel Clyne is confident that he has what it takes to play for England.

Clyne earned a call-up by Roy Hodgson for Euro 2016 qualifiers against Estonia and San Marino last month but remains uncapped after Calum Chambers was preferred in both games.

The 23-year-old is widely expected to be named in the squad for upcoming games with Slovenia and Scotland, and the youngster is hopeful that he has done enough to earn a first cap this time around.

"It's always good to play for your country," he told reporters. "If you play well then you get picked up.

"I think I've got the ability to play for my country, definitely. I'm playing with lots of confidence. Hopefully I can get called up again and receive my first cap."

England host the Slovenians in a Euro 2016 qualifier at Wembley on November 15, before facing Scotland in a friendly at Parkhead three days later.
