Chief Mwelo Nonkonyana sacked from South African Football Association post

South African Football Association vice president Chief Mwelo Nonkonyana is sacked at the organisation's annual general congress.

The South African Football Association have voted to dismiss their vice president, Chief Mwelo Nonkonyana.

The decision was taken at SAFA's 24th annual general congress in Johannesburg today.

Nonkonyana was suspended by SAFA in October last year following his comments that then South Africa coach Gordon Igesund should be fired if he failed to reach the final of the African Nations Championship in January, earlier this year.

South Africa were knocked out of the tournament after the group stages and failed to qualify for the quarter-finals.

No announcement has yet been made on who may replace Nonkonyana.
