Slovakia have retained their grip on an automatic qualifying place for Euro 2016 after sharing a goalless draw with Ukraine this evening.

Yevhen Konoplyanka came close to scoring in the early stages for the visitors with a powerful strike from the edge of the box that flew just wide of the post.

The hosts soon showed their threat in the final third when Marek Hamsik forced Andriy Pyatov to tip his stinging drive over the bar.

In the second half Artem Kravets almost made the breakthrough for the visitors when he burst through the defence and placed a strike inches wide of the target.

However, neither side were able to find the back of the net, as Slovakia stay three points ahead of their opponents in Group C with just two games left to play.
