Half-Time Report: Burnley in control at Sheffield Wednesday

Burnley lead Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 at half time in this afternoon's Championship meeting at Hillsborough.

Burnley hold a 2-0 lead over Sheffield Wednesday at half time in this afternoon's Championship meeting at Hillsborough.

Sam Vokes blazed an early effort over the bar for the visitors, while David Healy narrowly missed the target at the other end.

Wednesday nearly broke the deadlock midway through the half, but Jacques Maghoma's drive was pushed away by Tom Heaton.

David Prutton blasted a shot wide soon after, before Daniel Lafferty almost gifted the away side the lead when he came close to turning the ball into his own net.

Burnley eventually got themselves in front on 33 minutes as Danny Ings arrived in the box to head in powerfully.

The Clarets' lead was doubled seven minutes before the half-time whistle thanks to Vokes's cool finish from Kieran Trippier's pass.
