Vicente Iborra brace keeps Sevilla Champions League hopes alive

Sevilla come from 1-0 down to beat struggling Almeria and keep their hopes of a top-four place alive.

Sevilla are still in with a chance of qualifying for the Champions League after they came from a goal down to beat relegation-threatened Almeria this evening.

Thievy Bifouma had given the visitors a first-half lead, but two goals in six minutes from Vicente Iborra saw the Andalusians register a key victory as they try to overhaul Valencia in fourth place.

Almeria, who began the game inside the bottom three, started brightly with Bifouma and Michel Macedo going close to an early breakthrough.

That breakthrough finally came for the visitors on 30 minutes when Jonathan teed up Bifouma, who slotted past Sergio Rico.

Bifouma almost helped Almeria into a two-goal lead on 55 minutes when his headed pass found Jonathan, but his effort came back off the woodwork.

Instead, Sevilla got back on level terms midway through the second half as Iborra beat Ruben from point-blank range.

The hosts then snatched a crucial lead in their bid for a top-four finish when Iborra rifled a shot from the centre of the area, which Ruben couldn't get near.

Almeria's hopes of a result were further dented when Angel Trujillo was sent off with 15 minutes remaining.

Sevilla almost added a third late when Kevin Gameiro turned Iago Aspas's cross wide of goal, but their slender victory means that they can still overhaul Valencia on the final day of the season.
