Stephen Dawson seals Scunthorpe United move

Former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international Stephen Dawson agrees a two-year deal with Scunthorpe United.

Scunthorpe United have confirmed that they have secured the services of Stephen Dawson.

The midfielder will arrive at Glanford Park as a free agent following his release by Rochdale, for whom he made 36 appearances last season.

The 29-year-old has agreed a two-year deal with the Iron, with the option of a further year in the club's favour.

Dawson, who has been capped twice by the Republic of Ireland at Under-21 level, started his career with Leicester City, but he never made a senior appearance for the Premier League club.

He left for Mansfield Town in 2005, having spells with Bury, Leyton Orient and Burnley prior to joining Dale 12 months ago.
