Schalke yet to make bid for Michel Bastos

Schalke's director of football claims that the club are yet to make a formal bid for Michel Bastos.

Schalke director of sport Horst Heldt has revealed that the club are yet to make a formal offer for Michel Bastos.

The Lyon winger has attracted the interest of a number of European clubs but reports that a move to Schalke has been agreed are wide of the mark, according to Heldt.

"The truth is, we are interested in him and Lyon have been informed about this and we are in touch with the player's agent, but there is nothing more than interest at the moment," said Heldt.

"We have neither made the club an offer, nor opened up negotiations with them, and the player certainly hasn't had a medical. Bastos is a player who could play in many positions."

Bastos moved to Lyon from Lille in 2009.
