Schalke 04 director: 'Leroy Sane transfer not on cards'

Schalke 04 director Christian Heidel plays down rumours linking highly-rated Germany midfielder Leroy Sane, 20, to a move away from the Veltins-Arena.

Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04 have played down rumours linking highly-rated midfielder Leroy Sane to a move away from the Veltins-Arena.

The 20-year-old is a reported target for Premier League rivals Manchester City and Manchester United, who are both thought to be weighing up £40m bids.

Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel, however, told Bild: "The story is incorrect, nothing has changed with Leroy Sane."

The winger scored nine goals in 42 games for the Gelsenkirchen club in all competitions, earning a first call-up to the full Germany squad in November.
