Manchester City tipped to step up efforts to sign Leroy Sane

Manchester City reportedly step up their interest in Germany midfielder Leroy Sane.

Schalke 04's Leroy Sane has been tipped to become the first signing of Pep Guardiola's tenure at Manchester City.

Manchester United's reported interest in the Germany international has forced the Sky Blues to step up their efforts to recruit him, according to The Mirror.

The attacking midfielder, who was recently named in Germany's Euro 2016 squad, has been touted as one of the most promising young talents in the Bundesliga.

Sane has previously been linked with Barcelona and is said to be valued at £40m by Schalke.

The 20-year-old netted his ninth goal of the season last weekend during his team's 4-1 victory over Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.
