Team News: Kevin-Prince Boateng starts up front for Schalke 04

Kevin-Prince Boateng is handed a surprise start as striker for Schalke 04.

Schalke 04 coach Jens Keller has sprung a surprise in his starting lineup for the trip to Hoffenheim by naming Kevin-Prince Boateng in attack in place of Adam Szalai.

Maximilian Meyer is also chosen to start and he will likely switch duties with Boateng throughout the match, with width coming from Christian Clemens and Jefferson Farfan.

For the hosts, in-form Frenchman Anthony Modeste continues up top while Roberto Firmino is restored to the starting XI.

Hoffenheim: Casteels; Beck, Abraham, Vestergaard, Johnson; Polanski, Salihovic, Volland, Firmino, Elyounoussi; Modeste

Schalke: Hildebrand; Uchida, Howedes, Matip, Aogo; Hoger, Jones; Farfan, Meyer, Clemens; Boateng
