Guillaume Hoarau 'has spoken to Premier League clubs'

Guillaume Hoarau's agent reveals that the out-of-contract French striker is targeting a move to the Premier League after failing to agree a deal with Saint-Etienne.

Guillaume Hoarau has turned his attention to securing a Premier League move after discussions with Saint-Etienne broke down, according to his agent.

The 30-year-old striker, who has previously been linked with Newcastle United, is currently a free agent following his release by Bordeaux at the end of last season.

He had been expected to join Les Verts, but the Ligue 1 club have walked away from negotiations to instead pursue Norwich City forward Ricky van Wolfswinkel.

Horau's representative Thierry Gras has explained how this leaves Hoarau targeting a move to England.

"We had been talking to Saint-Etienne for some weeks about Hoarau coming in to replace Brandao and were forced to pass on a number of proposals during that time. But that's football and today, Guillaume remains a free agent," Gras told Sky Sports News.

"It's true that we have spoken with Premier League clubs before about Guillaume, as his all-round game means he's suited to the league."

Hoarau scored 22 goals in a five-year spell at Paris Saint-Germain earlier in his career.
