Mohamed Salah: 'Roma can challenge Juventus for Serie A'

Mohamed Salah predicts "big things" during his spell with Roma and believes that they can challenge Roma for Serie A.

Roma new boy Mohamed Salah has claimed that the Giallorossi can break Juventus's stranglehold on Serie A this season.

The 23-year-old snubbed a return to Fiorentina this summer in favour of joining Rudi Garcia's side on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

The Bianconeri have won four successive league titles and Massimiliano Allegri's men are favourites to finish top of the pile once again come May.

"My experience at Fiorentina was great. I enjoyed it there, but that period is over and I'm here now," Salah told the club's official website.

"I'm in Rome to continue my career with Roma. I hope to achieve big things here. Rudi Garcia told me how much he wanted to have me in his team.

"I think Roma have some excellent players that can help us to compete in all the competitions we'll be playing in. Our objective is to make our fans happy by having a great season. Juventus are a very strong side but I think we at Roma can compete with them this year."

Roma, who finished second and 17 points behind Juve last term, kick off their Serie A campaign with a trip to Hellas Verona on August 23.
