Real Madrid are reportedly yet to agree a contract with Kylian Mbappe despite claims that the forward has decided to move to the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid reportedly still have work ahead if they wish to agree a contract with Kylian Mbappe.

In recent days, it has been claimed that the 2018 World Cup winner has decided to leave Paris Saint-Germain in order to move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Although there have since been conflicting reports over whether a final decision has been made, it had previously been suggested that Mbappe would make the final call by the middle of February.

The Spanish giants also allegedly have no interest in becoming involved in a drawn-out saga, like they were during 2021-22 before ultimately being turned down by the versatile attacker.

As it stands, both clubs appear to be waiting on further developments before any official announcement can be made by any of the parties involved.

According to The Independent, that will not be in the short term courtesy of a wage packet having not been agreed with Mbappe.

The report claims that the two sides are 'no closer' to finalising a deal at this stage, despite there being indications that a transfer will still go through.

Recently, president Nasser Al Khelaifi has spoken confidently about retaining the services of Mbappe, who first started representing PSG in 2017.

However, it is suggested that Al Khelaifi is only prepared to offer the 25-year-old a marginal increase - in the context of his current contract - to his income.

PSG are said to have plans to introduce a new business and footballing strategy, one which they will not compromise by paying over the odds to keep their star man.

Negotiations are expected to continue in due course at a time when PSG are about to embark on an important period of the 2023-24 campaign.

Although Luis Enrique's side sit eight points at the top of the Ligue 1 standings, they also face Coupe de France and Champions League ties against Brest and Real Sociedad by February 14.

Mbappe has already enjoyed an outstanding campaign from an individual perspective, scoring 29 goals from 27 starts and one substitute outing in all competitions.
