Barcelona are reportedly still interested in signing Matthias Ginter on a free transfer this summer.
The 27-year-old has made 170 appearances for Borussia Monchengladbach since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in July 2017, but he will be leaving his German club at the end of June when his contract expires.
Barcelona and Real Madrid are among the clubs to be credited with an interest in the Germany international, who has featured on 22 occasions in all competitions during the 2021-22 campaign.
There have been claims that Xavi's side have cooled their interest in the defender, with Chelsea's Cesar Azpilicueta seen as the preferred target this summer.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants are still keen to bring Ginter to Camp Nou, viewing him as the ideal low-cost signing amid their financial problems.
The centre-back - capped on 46 occasions by Germany - started his professional career with Freiburg before moving to Dortmund, where he spent three years ahead of a switch to Monchengladbach.
