Real Madrid star Karim Benzema will reportedly spend a night in a jail cell after being questioned by police over an alleged sex-tape blackmail plot against his France teammate Mathieu Valbuena.
The striker was detained by the authorities after arriving at a police station in Versailles this morning.
The arrest is in relation to an alleged plot to extort money from Valbuena by threatening to leak a tape of the Lyon footballer and his partner having sex.
Benzema's connection to this case has not yet been confirmed, but his lawyer told The AP that the Madrid star, who denies any wrongdoing, could spend the night in a jail cell.
Former Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse was recently held by police, reportedly on suspicion of being one of four men attempting to blackmail Valbuena.
Cisse denied being involved.
