Iker Casillas planning Real Madrid stay

Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas claims that he will see his contract out with the club, despite falling behind Diego Lopez as the club's first-choice stopper.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has insisted that he intends to see out the remainder of his contract with the club.

The World Cup winner has fallen behind Diego Lopez as Los Blancos' number one, and has been the subject of reported interest from Arsenal, amongst others.

However, the 32-year-old says that he will not be looking to move when the transfer window opens in January, or next summer.

"Of course I'll end the year in Madrid," Casillas told reporters after Tuesday night's 2-2 draw with Juventus.

"I said it last time, but some people always try to misinterpret me. My intention is to stay in January and July and until the end of my current contract. I don't know what could happen from here to one year or more.

"I'm happy. These days it's difficult to get into the team so when I have the opportunity to play I have to be at my maximum level in order that the coach keeps faith in me. It's not easy only playing every two weeks, but that's the way it is."

Casillas's contract expires in 2017.
