Luis Garcia hopes for Real Madrid win in Clasico

Luis Garcia believes that a Real Madrid win at Barcelona will help the league title race remain interesting for the rest of the season.

Getafe coach Luis Garcia is hopeful that Real Madrid will defeat Barcelona in the Clasico at Camp Nou on Sunday.

Barca are currently at the top of the table in La Liga with 18 points from six matches, while Madrid are eight points behind them in sixth.

"For the good of the league I do not want Barca to win, but not because I have any ill feeling towards them," said the 39-year-old.

"Last year I said the opposite, that I wanted Barcelona to win in their last league meeting, but this year I want Real Madrid to get the points because, if not, then the club will be 11 points behind and that will be very difficult to overcome."

Garcia added that should Madrid win on Sunday, then it will help the league become "more equal".

"That the two main contenders for the title, just seven days from the start, are 11 points apart is not good," he said. "Last year I said the same thing, but the other way around, to produce a more equal league.

"If they can catch up, then they can fight tooth and nail all year."

Garcia's Getafe are 11th in the league table at the moment with seven points from six matches.
