Portugal legend Luis Figo has admitted that he is on the fence in the debate over who is the better player between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Barcelona star Messi is the only player in history to have won the Ballon d'Or four times, while current holder Ronaldo has struck 19 goals in 11 games for Real Madrid this term.
Figo, who played for both clubs, said that he could not give a definitive answer on who he prefers, and jokingly claimed that he was the planet's finest player.
The Portuguese told A Bola: "The best in the world is me. That way I don't compromise.
"You cannot choose between the two best players in the world. It's very difficult, because if you choose one over the other then it suggests the other is not good, which isn't true.
"That's why I prefer not to choose, because they're both very good."
The nominations for the 2014 Ballon d'Or, which will be awarded in January next year, are announced later this month.
