Xabi Alonso claims that Real Madrid are refusing to look too far ahead in the league campaign.

Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso has insisted that his side are refusing to look too far ahead as their grip tightens on the La Liga crown.

The Madrid outfit, who overcame opponents Getafe on the road this weekend, were able to maintain their seven-point lead over rivals Barcelona despite Pep Guardiola's men's win over Real Sociedad.

"Every game is important and we are happy with the three points because our plan of going little by little continues," he said.

"We expected a difficult game like that; the opponent, the countryside, the cold climate, the wind. But we've overcome it and we were very professional.

"There are still many games to go, but today we played against tough opponent and we are very satisfied."

Real Madrid will next face Levante at the Santiago Bernabeu in a week's time.
