Real Madrid star Gareth Bale 'ruled out of El Clasico with ankle injury'

Real Madrid star Gareth Bale will reportedly miss next month's El Clasico after suffering tendon damage in his ankle.

Real Madrid star Gareth Bale will reportedly miss El Clasico next month after the club confirmed that the attacker has suffered tendon damage to his ankle.

The Wales international picked up the injury during the Spanish giants' 2-1 defeat to Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

On Wednesday afternoon, Madrid released a statement confirming that Bale has a "traumatic dislocation of the peroneal tendons" in his right ankle, but did not provide a timeline for his recovery.

According to Marca, though, Bale will not regain fitness in time for the La Liga clash against Barcelona, which will be held at Camp Nou on December 3.

It would provide a major blow as Bale has scored seven goals in all competitions this season.
