Real Madrid team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Espanyol

Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's La Liga clash with Espanyol.

Real Madrid will hope to make it four La Liga victories on the bounce when they welcome Catalan rivals Espanyol to the Bernabeu in La Liga on Saturday.

Zinedine Zidane's men went to the top of La Liga with a 2-1 win over Alaves on Saturday, with captain Sergio Ramos netting an important late winner.

Los Blancos, who are yet to lose at home this season, will be expected to beat Espanyol by a much more convincing scoreline in front of their own supporters.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of this fixture.

Marco Asensio

Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

The youngster may not play a minute of action this season after suffering a severe knee ligament problem during pre-season. There is no timeframe as to when he could return.

Nacho

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: December 7 (vs. Espanyol)

The defender has returned to training after sustaining a knee injury at the start of November, although it seems unlikely that he will be risked against Espanyol as he continues to build towards full fitness.

James Rodriguez

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Rodriguez is likely to miss the remainder of 2019 after picking up a knee problem whilst on international duty with Colombia - an incident that came after a series of niggling injury issues in recent weeks.

Lucas Vazquez

Status: Out
Type of injury: Toe
Possible return date: Unknown

The Spaniard fractured his toe during a session in the gym and will not, as a result, feature for Los Blancos until the turn of the year.

Eden Hazard

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Bruised leg
Possible return date: December (vs. Espanyol)

It was initially feared that, following a clash with Belgium teammate Thomas Meunier, Hazard would be injured for some time due to ligament damage in his ankle, but scans have revealed that the player has only sustained heavy bruising, which should have abated by next weekend.

REAL MADRID'S SUSPENSION LIST

Madrid have no players suspended for the La Liga fixture.
