Team News: Sami Khedira starts for Real Madrid against Schalke 04

Sami Khedira is back in the Real Madrid starting lineup for the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Schalke.

Sami Khedira has returned to the Real Madrid starting lineup for tonight's Champions League last-16 second leg at home to Schalke 04.

A hamstring problem has kept the midfielder out of the team since the start of February, though he was named on the bench for Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Athletic Bilbao in La Liga.

Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has made one further change following his side's loss to Bilbao, with Fabio Coentrao replacing Dani Carvajal. Meanwhile, Luka Modric is named on the bench after shaking off a thigh problem.

Meanwhile, Schalke boss Roberto Di Matteo has made one change to his team after seeing them beat Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga over the weekend as Joel Matip is recalled in defence.

Real Madrid: Casillas; Coentrao, Varane, Pepe, Arbeloa; Khedira, Kroos, Isco; Bale, Ronaldo, Benzema
Subs: Navas, Marcelo, Hernandez, Nacho, Modric, Jese, Illarramendi

Schalke: Wellenreuther; Howedes, Matip, Nastasic, Hoger; Neustadter, Fuchs, Barnetta, Meyer; Choupo-Moting, Huntelaar
