Real Madrid finished off their Champions League group campaign in style this evening with a 4-1 win over Ajax at the Bernabeu.
The Dutch outfit secured third spot in the group despite the loss, however, with Manchester City losing away to Borussia Dortmund.
Madrid found themselves 2-0 ahead inside 30 minutes with Cristiano Ronaldo and Jose Callejon both finding the back of the net with smart finishes.
It was three for the home side early in the second period when Kaka found the top corner, but Derk Boerrigter had one back for Ajax moments later.
The Dutch outfit continued to impress in the second 45 minutes, but Callejon fired his second for Madrid late on to add gloss to the scoreline.
Here, Sports Mole dissects the 90 minutes of action between the two Group D rivals.

Was the result fair?
The first 45 minutes was probably the most comfortable Real Madrid have been all season. Ajax did shade the possession, but they managed just one attempt on goal. The second period was entirely different and Ajax were the better side for large periods, but the game had already been lost.
Real Madrid's performance
6/10. Real Madrid looked world beaters in the first half of football, but very average in the second. The points had been all but secured in an impressive showing in the first period and they were extremely laboured after the break. Jose Mourinho will surely have a quiet word with his troops, but it is another three points at the Bernabeu for Madrid.
Ajax's performance
5/10. Ajax were very poor in the first period, but very good in the second. They demonstrated their tidiness on the ball throughout the 90 minutes, but their attacking threat was non-existent in the first half. They did miss the pace of Ryan Babel, but the way they set up allowed Madrid to press high and dominate the ball in attacking areas. That changed in the second half, but it was too little too late.
Sports Mole's man of the match
Luka Modric: It seems extraordinary that one of the best talents in the Premier League last season is still not guaranteed a regular spot at Madrid. But he put in a fine display this evening with two assists in an all-round solid performance.
Biggest gaffe
Adan enjoyed a rare start for Real Madrid this evening. But he had an absolute horror show in the second period when he came and missed a high ball, allowing Boerrigter to pounce and score for the away side. Iker Casillas will probably not be too worried.
Referee performance
Pavel Kralovec had a successful 90 minutes of action this evening. The Czech was prepared to let the play flow in the correct areas, but handed out a host of yellow cards in the second period during a scrappy period of the match.
What next?
Real Madrid: Madrid return to La Liga duty away to Real Valladolid on Saturday when they will attempt to claw back some points on league leaders Barcelona.
Ajax: The Dutch outfit will return to domestic action against Groningen this weekend as they attempt to make ground on league leaders FC Twente.
