Reading manager Brian McDermott has revealed that he expects Brynjar Gunnarsson to sign a new deal with club and make his 25-man squad for the upcoming season.
The 36-year-old midfielder, who joined the Royals from Watford in 2005, made only five appearances last term.
"He will definitely get something at this football club," said McDermott. "My gut feeling is that he will be in the 25-man squad too. If you look at the numbers, right now we're up to 23.
"Players like Sean Morrison, Jordan Obita and Karl Sheppard don't count among that as they're under 21 - so there is a strong chance Bryn will be in."
Reading mark their return to the Premier League at home to Stoke City on August 18.
