Steve Clarke confident Adam Federici will be fine

Reading boss Steve Clarke believes that Adam Federici will have no problem bouncing back from his costly error in his side's FA Cup semi-final loss to Arsenal.

Reading boss Steve Clarke has insisted that keeper Adam Federici will bounce back from his error in his side's FA Cup semi-final defeat to Arsenal.

The Australian made the critical mistake in the game as he allowed Alexis Sanchez's strike to slip from his grasp and through his legs to hand the Gunners a 2-1 lead in extra time, which was good enough to earn their place in the final.

Federici was inconsolable at the final whistle, but Clarke is upbeat that the 30-year-old will be back to his best for his side's match against Birmingham City on Wednesday.

He told reporters: "He was very, very disappointed. He just wanted to get inside as quickly as he could and have his sad moment by himself. You have to respect that.

"When he comes in on Monday we'll have a little chat. He'll be fine. He's a goalkeeper, he's a professional. He understands the life. He's a strong character and on Wednesday night he will be one of our best players again, as usual."

Reading are 19th in the Championship with 47 points from their 42 matches.
