RB Leipzig's Timo Werner forced off due to 'noisy Besiktas fans'

RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner reportedly asked to be substituted during his side's Champions League fixture due to the atmosphere created by Besiktas fans on Tuesday.

RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner reportedly asked to be substituted during his side's Champions League defeat to Besiktas on Tuesday night because of the noise created by the Turkish fans.

The 21-year-old was taken off after just 32 minutes of action at Besiktas's Vodafone Arena after trying unsuccessfully to block out the noise using earplugs and was also spotted holding his hands over his ears.

The Bundesliga outfit then went on to lose the contest, as former Liverpool man Ryan Babel and Anderson Talisca sealed a comfortable win for the home side.

"It is impossible to prepare your team for an atmosphere like this. There was a deafening noise and at the start of the game we were a bit affected," Leipzig manager Ralph Hasenhuttl told reporters afterwards.

"We were not good in the first 20 minutes at all. But it was a lesson for all of us. I saw who I can count on in times like these. This is a lesson for us to learn and we keep learning."

Leipzig, who are making their Champions League debut this season, are currently bottom of Group H.
