Scottish League One roundup: Winning start for Rangers

There are wins for Rangers, Ayr United and Dunfermline on the first weekend of the season in the Scottish League One.

Rangers got their season off to a strong start with a 4-1 win over Brechin in the lunchtime kickoff in the Scottish League One.

Goals from Chris Hegarty and Dean Shiels helped Ally McCoist's men to victory, with Steven Jackson scoring the only goal of the game for the visitors.

Ayr United join the Ibrox outfit at the top of the table after the first weekend of the season following their 3-0 win at Arbroath.

Michael Moffat scored a brace while Alan Forrest added a goal off the bench to seal a comfortable victory.

Dunfermline and Stenhousemuir also secured all three points with narrow victories over East Fife and Stranraer respectively.

However, the game of the day took place at Station Park, where Forfar Athletic were held 3-3 by Aidrie.
