Rangers make Steve McClaren approach?

Rangers reportedly make an approach to former England boss Steve McClaren regarding the vacant managerial position at Ibrox.

Former England boss Steve McClaren has reportedly been approached regarding the vacant managerial position at Rangers.

Last month, Pedro Caixinha was removed from his role at Ibrox after just 27 matches in charge, while Graeme Murty has won his first two games after replacing the Portuguese on a temporary basis.

However, according to Sky Sports News, Rangers are still considering their options and McClaren has received an "informal" approach over the vacancy.

McClaren is currently acting in an advisory role at Maccabi Tel Aviv, but it has been suggested that the 56-year-old would be interested in speaking to Rangers over a return to British football.

Earlier this year, McClaren was sacked as manager of Derby County after just 29 matches, while Newcastle United parted company with McClaren after 31 games in March 2016.

Rangers currently sit in fourth place in the top-flight standings, six points adrift of leaders Celtic.
