Rangers "appalled" at Malcolm Murray behaviour

Rangers hit back at former chairman Malcolm Murray after he denied his role in the agreement of the pay packages of Charles Green and Brian Stockbridge.

Rangers have slammed former chairman Malcolm Murray for his part in the director pay packages that were revealed this week in the club's annual accounts.

Rangers chief executive Craig Mather claimed that Murray decided the salaries of former board member Charles Green and finance director Brian Stockbridge, who reportedly pocketed £933,000 and £400,000 respectively.

However, Murray described Mather's comments as "misleading and vexatious", prompting Rangers to hit back at their former chairman.

"The board of Rangers Football Club are appalled and saddened at the current demeanour of Mr Malcolm Murray and the damage that he is causing to the club and regard his behaviour as totally unbefitting a once respected practitioner in the City of London's financial community," read a club statement.

Rangers are currently top of Scottish League Two having won all seven of their matches so far, scoring 32 goals and conceding just two.
