The 31-year-old recently returned to Loftus Road from a three-month loan spell with Ipswich Town.
He is now thought to be closing in on a permanent deal with Rovers, according to Sky Sports News.
Campbell scored 10 goals in 17 games during his temporary stay with Ipswich.
