Tjaronn Chery, Charlie Austin doubles fire QPR to victory over Rotherham

Charlie Austin and Tjaronn Chery both strike twice to fire QPR to a comfortable 4-2 victory over Rotherham United.

Tjaronn Chery and Charlie Austin both notched doubles to fire Queens Park Rangers to a comfortable 4-2 victory over Rotherham United this afternoon.

Dutch striker Chery bagged his first goals for the club with two clinical finishes either side of half time, first after an Austin layoff and then following great play from Massimo Luongo.

Rotherham should have taken the lead midway through the first 45 but Matt Derbyshire somehow put the ball wide from only three yards out.

The Millers were made to rue the former England U21 international's miss, as Chery opened the scoring just before the interval, before adding a second on 50 minutes.

QPR added insult to injury as Austin's tame strike somehow found its way through Rotherham goalkeeper Kelle Roos, who was already under scrutiny following a shaky start to his career in South Yorkshire.

Forward Jonson Clarke-Harris restored some pride for the Millers when he capitalised on Alejandro Faurlin's error and produced an impressive finish past Robert Green.

Tom Thorpe then looked to have ensured a nervy finish for the home team, as he knocked the ball in at the back post, but any hope was short lived as Austin converted from the penalty area after Sebastian Polter was brought down.
