Bobby Zamora: 'I took wage cut to stay at Queens Park Rangers'

Queens Park Rangers striker Bobby Zamora admits that staying put at Loftus Road to play in the Premier League is worth a pay cut and appearing off the bench.

Queens Park Rangers striker Bobby Zamora has admitted that he took a pay cut in order to stay at the West London club and play in the Premier League.

The 33-year-old, whose goal in the Championship playoff final against Derby County last season helped the R's back up to the top tier of English football, admitted that he had "a couple of options" lined up.

However, the former West Ham United man claimed that the prospect of playing in the Premier League was a "no brainer", despite having to accept a contract with a reduced salary.

Zamora is quoted by getwestlondon as saying: "Yeah, I took a cut, and I'm just pleased to be back. Going back down you realise just how good a league the Premier League is.

"There was a couple of options, but I enjoy my time here, and it was a no brainer."

Zamora has appeared off the bench seven times for QPR this season.
