Report: Charlie Austin to earn England call-up

England manager Roy Hodgson will select Charlie Austin in his squad for the games against Republic of Ireland and Slovenia in June, according to reports.

England manager Roy Hodgson has reportedly decided to hand Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin a call-up for the matches against Slovenia and Republic of Ireland in June.

Austin has been impressive in his debut Premier League season, and his tally of 17 goals has given QPR a good chance of avoiding relegation with five games remaining in their campaign.

There were suggestions that he would be selected for last month's matches with Lithuania and Italy alongside Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane, but Hodgson resisted making major changes to his attack.

According to the Daily Mail, the 25-year-old will be called up to replace Kane, who is set to be involved in the preparations for this summer's European Under-21 Championship.

England meet Ireland in a friendly on June 7 before taking on Slovenia in a Euro 2016 qualifier a week later.
